What I treat

Bladder, Bowel & Pelvic Floor

These are some of the most common and most treatable reasons people come to see me. Many of these symptoms are common, but common doesn't mean normal.

  • Urinary Incontinence: Leaking urine when coughing, sneezing, or exercising (stress incontinence), or having a sudden, uncontrollable urge to go (urge incontinence)

  • Frequency and Urgency: Feeling the need to use the bathroom more than 8 times a day, or feeling like you can't wait

  • Hesitancy or Straining: Difficulty starting the stream of urine, or feeling like the bladder isn't completely empty after going

  • Constipation: Straining to have a bowel movement or feeling "blocked"

  • Fecal Incontinence: Accidental loss of gas or stool

  • Incomplete Evacuation: The sensation that you need to go again immediately after a bowel movement

  • GI Discomfort: Heartburn and bloating

  • Pressure or Heaviness: A "dragging" sensation in the pelvis that often feels worse at the end of the day

  • Dyspareunia: Pain during or after sexual intercourse

  • Vaginismus: Involuntary tightening of the vaginal muscles, making penetration painful or impossible

  • Pelvic Pain: Aching or sharp pain in the lower abdomen, hips, or tailbone

Pregnancy & Postpartum

Pregnancy and birth ask an enormous amount of your core and pelvic floor, and recovery doesn't simply happen on its own timeline. Whether you're expecting, six weeks out, or years past your last delivery, these are all things I can help with.

  • Diastasis Recti Abdominis (DRA): A gap between the left and right abdominal muscles, often appearing as "coning" or "doming" in the middle of your stomach. (Learn more in my diastasis recti series.)

  • Core Weakness: Difficulty lifting, carrying, or exercising due to weakness after delivery

  • Perineal Tearing or Episiotomy Scars: Pain, tightness, or sensitivity at the site of a tear or surgical cut after a vaginal birth

  • C-Section Scar: Numbness, tingling, or "pulling" sensations around a surgical incision, or a stiffened scar

  • Pelvic Organ Prolapse (POP): A feeling of heaviness or something "sitting" in the vaginal opening

  • Pelvic Girdle Pain (PGP): Pain in the front or back of the pelvis (often the pubic bone or sacroiliac joints), sometimes a "grinding" or "clicking" when walking or rolling over in bed

  • Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction (SPD): A specific type of pelvic girdle pain where the ligaments keeping your pelvic bone aligned become too relaxed, causing sharp pain in the pubic area

  • Pregnancy-Onset Incontinence: Leaking a small amount of urine when you laugh, cough, or sneeze

Spine, Joint, Tendon & Muscle

Pelvic health doesn't exist in isolation, the back, hips, and the rest of the body are part of the same system. I also treat a range of orthopedic concerns.

  • Lower Back Pain: General soreness, muscle spasms, or stiffness in the lumbar spine

  • Sciatica: Pain located in or traveling to the buttock, thigh, and lower leg

  • Poor Posture: Forward head position, rounded back, forward shoulders

  • Joint Instability: Clicking, popping, or a joint "slipping" out of place

  • Neck & Upper Back Strain: Tension, "text neck," or restricted movement in the upper spine

  • Shoulder & Wrist Pain: Weakness, achy or sharp pain

  • Tendonitis: Pain around joints

  • Hand Pain: Pain, numbness, or tingling in the thumb or hand

  • Hip & Groin Pain: Deep discomfort in the front of the hip

  • Knee Pain: Pain under or around the kneecap during squats or stairs

  • Ankle Instability: Frequent "rolling" of the ankle or lingering pain after an old sprain

  • Foot & Heel Pain: Intense soreness on the bottom of the arch or heel

Don't see your concern listed?

This isn't everything I treat, it's just where I help most often. If you're dealing with something pelvic floor, core, or orthopedic related and aren't sure where it fits, reach out and we'll figure it out together.
